The guest list for an exclusive Tonys after-party at the swanky Carlyle Hotel was vastly reduced this year because last year’s bash was too debauched.
Every year, A-listers congregate in upstairs suites after the Broadway awards ceremony, as others party at Café Carlyle and Bemelmans Bar below — but the hotel told organizers to keep the affair much smaller this time around.
“Last year, a beloved male producer took a header in the Royal Suite and smashed into the wall, shattering some very valuable Venetian glass,” DKC/O&M head Rick Miramontez tells us. “The hotel was ultimately understanding about the incident, but we did reluctantly agree to a reduced capacity in the suites. Luckily, the Café Carlyle has almost no breakable antiques, so we are still able to pack that venue to the gills!”
